barefoot on the lawn
thin grass tickles my legs
No One
in their right mind
would wake up this early
so i just stayed up
All night
with my phone
and a friend
and the summer-green lawn
enjoying the sunrise-morning.
our words and laughter
echo
across the street
but we're the only ones

my teacher called it "poem sketching" - we were given a list of words that had been put in groups of four, and then told to write a happy poem and then a sad poem using one group of words for each.
this is the happy poem. ^^ and if youre curious, the word group i picked was "barefoot, sunrise, words, green." |
