The wheat fields are
yellowed
crisply golden
The close of August
allows only these grasses
to shine.
Thunder rolls in
at the close of August
The rain isn't falling yet.
Shut the door on August
Shut the door
on summer's memories
It's an end to the bliss
at the sight of wheat fields
that aren't quite golden
yet.
The thunder is closing in.
